The Gilbert Model Railroad Club is located in the basement of the Gilbert Historical Museum (ask the docent at the front desk to lead you there) and models the Phoenix area in the late 1950s to early 1960s. The layout is split into a western ATSF region and an eastern SP region.

Downtown Gilbert in HO Scale Form Circa 1960.

A model of the Phoenix Union Station. What once stood proudly and soldiered through seven decades of railroad history now remains but a shadow of its former self, with the last train having run in 1996. Passenger rail has been rerouted via the old station in Maricopa (albeit rebuilt with a standard Amtrak appearance) and a coach bus carries passengers from a terminal near the airport to Maricopa Amtrak.

A freight train pulls onto the mainline with a Black Widow Livery GP9 leading.

Picacho never had a marshalling yard, let alone an engine shed and refueling station, but sometimes a modeler has to be brave and take creative liberties to make their idea work.

A model of the Phoenix Train Yard with the now-demolished Phoenix Roundhouse with multiple engines awaiting assignment or repair.

Another shot of Picacho Yard, which once again, never existed in real life.
